Abstract:
PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of desired viscosity, by preparing an alumina sol composition by adding water soluble neutral aliphatic amino acid such as 2-12C monoaminocarboxylic acid or lactams each being a derivative of said amino acid to an alumina sol. CONSTITUTION:Water soluble neutral aliphatic amino acid or lactam being a derivative thereof is added to an alumina sol to obtain an alumina sol composition easily adjustable in viscosity and having excellent stability. As a method for adding neutral aliphatic amino acid to the alumina sol, there are a method for synthesizing the alumina sol in the presence of neutral aliphatic amino acid and a method for adding neutral aliphatic amino acid to the alumina sol after synthesis. As water soluble neutral aliphatic amino acid or lactam being the derivative thereof, they are aminoacetic acid, sarcosine, aminopropionic acid or lactams being derivatives thereof such as caprolactam.
