Abstract:
Appropriate process for imparting to a metal substrate a coating protecting against corrosion, based on hexavalent chromium, not requiring recourse to any additional protective layer, and which comprises:   - a stage of preparation of the metal substrate by degreasing, optionally followed by scouring or pickling,   - a stage of treatment by dipping, spraying or with a roller by means of an appropriate bath for imparting the required protective coating to the metal substrate and   - a stage of baking at high temperature, is characterised in that the abovementioned bath comprises at least:   - a metal in particulate form,   - chromic acid and/or one of its derivatives as oxidising agent,   - at least one water-soluble solvent of high boiling point, chosen from those of aprotic polar type and of ketonic type,   - water.
