Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a dimer which is an intermolecular dehydrogenation product and an unsaturated hydrocarbon which is an intra-molecular dehydrogenation product in one step by irradiating a saturated hydrocarbon with light in the presence of a complex compound of Rh or Pt and acetone. CONSTITUTION:Intermolecular and intramolecular dehydrogenation products are produced in one step by irradiating a saturated hydrocarbon (e.g. pentane or cyclohexane) with light at normal temperature in the presence of a complex compound of Rh or Pt [e.g. Rh6(CO))16 or Pt(C4H6O2)2] and 0.1-2.0 pts.vol. (based on 1 pt. vol. of saturated hydrocarbon) of acetone. A xenon lamp, etc., can be used as the light source in addition to white light emitted from a high- pressure mercury lamp.
