Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow a porous ceramic carrier to effectively capture even flocks of mm order and to exhibit high treating ability by regulating the surface roughness of the carrier having many pores of a specified diameter in the surface to a specified value or above. CONSTITUTION:The bulk specific gravity of a porous ceramic carrier having many pores of 0.5-2mm diameter in the surface is regulated to <=0.5. The carrier surely captures flocks of mm order in the pores, efficiently fixes a group of microorganisms in the flocks and can capture a large amt. of flocks in waste water. The surface roughness of the carrier expressed by the amt. of a highly viscous soln. having 60cps viscosity adhered to the carrier by dipping in the soln. is regulated to >=0.65g/cc. The waste water purifying performance of the carrier can be improved.
