Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the running characteristics and safety of a car by utilizing road information previously stored in a navigation device installed in a car, and previously adjusting the rear wheel steering ratio automatically to a value in accordance with the road situation ahead the car. CONSTITUTION:In a device equipped with a steering ratio changing means 34 to change the ratio of rear wheel steering angle to the front wheel steering angle, a navigation device 50 is furnished which is to previously store the road information for inducing the car running. Further are furnished a means 65 to sense the current position of car and a means 90 to control said steering ratio changing means 34 in accordance with the road information in the navigation device 50 concerning ahead the current position of the car. On the way of traveling to destination controlled by the navigation device 50, the steering ratio changing means 34 is controlled automatically by said control means 90, and the steering ratio of rear wheels to the front wheels is altered to proper value according to the road information ahead the current position of the car.
