NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R<1> and R<2> are H, lower alkyl, phenyl, etc.; R<3> is halogen or lower alkyl; R<4> is H, halogen, phenyl lower alkyl, etc.; R<5> is hydroxyimino, 7-10C alkylamino, etc.; R<6> is H or phenyl; R<7> is H or lower alkyl). EXAMPLE:2,3-Dihydro-7-hydroxy-4-methyl-6-(1-phenyl-2-propenyl)-1H-inde ne-1-one oxime. USE:An improver for hypoxemia useful for cerebral activation, amnesia, senile dementia, etc., having preventing action and lowering action on formation of peroxide lipid in the living body and further useful as an antioxidant with low toxicity and side effect. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with hydroxylamine expressed by the formula NH2OH in a solvent, e.g. ethanol, etc., in the presence or absence of a base, e.g. pyridine, etc., at 50-150 deg.C for 1-10hr and, as necessary, the reaction product is reduced to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
