Abstract:
The invention provides for an extended PIN/password comprising substantially more positions than the simple one with, for example, four positions. This extended PIN/password is used to unblock PINs/passwords blocked owing to excessive false attempts or loss and make them usable. The knowledge of the extended PIN/password allows the individual user to recover the use of his usual PIN/password without the aid of a specially authorised person or institution and thus have access to protected data and equipment.
