Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4813359
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1291452 Epoxy resin polyester elastomers MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 6 Oct 1969 [7 Oct 1968] 49058/69 Headings C3B and C3R A composition curable to an elastomer comprises: (I) at least one epoxy resin, (II) at least one water insoluble polyether polyamine having M.W. #3500 and having terminal primary amino groups; at least a major proportion of the recurring polyether groups are oxytetramethylene units (optionally with a minor proportion of other C 2-6 oxyalkylene or oxythioalkylene units) and at least half of the terminal groups at OC 4 H 8 NH 2 ; the polyether moiety contains <3% by wt. of secondary amino nitrogen and <0À3% by wt. of tertiary amino nitrogen. I and II are used in proportions such that the oxirane/amine equivalence ratio (i.e. the number of oxirane equivalents present in I divided by the total number of amine-attached, active hydrogen atoms present in the total wt. of II) ranges from 1 : 1 to 30 : 1. Also present is (III) a tin salt at at least 0À5% by wt. based on the wt. of I + II. The tin salt may be derived from a C 2-20 monocarboxylic acid, e.g. stannous octoate. The composition may also contain up to half the wt. of III of a basic tertiary amine having a basic dissociation constant in water at 25‹ C. of at least 10-7 and an acid dissociation constant in water at 25‹ C. of < 10-4. The polyether polyamines (II) are described and claimed in Specification 1,134,132. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,134,132.
