Abstract:
1277417 Molluscicides containing oleanolic acid glucoside NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 18 June 1969 [21 June 1968] 29760/68 Heading A5E [Also in Division C2] A molluscidal agent, the principal component of which is oleanolic acid 3-di-D-glucoside or an alkali metal salt thereof, i.e. (wherein M is H or alkali metal and R is a di-D-glucoside radical) is obtained from the plant Endod (Phytolacca dodecandra) by extraction with an alcoholic solvent, and alkaline hydrolysis of the extract followed, when required, by acidification. The agents may be compounded into molluscidal compositions with inert carriers and diluents, especially aqueous and organic solvents, and optionally surface active agents. The molluscidal agents and compositions are said to be toxic towards species of Biomphalaria, Bulinus and Lymneae and also to leaches and are added to water where the molluscs occur at a concentration of at least 5 p.p.m.
