1382456 Foamed carbodiimide linked polymers BASF WYANDOTTE CORP 27 June 1972 [5 Aug 1971] 29997/72 Heading C3C A rigid foamed carbodiimide linked polymer is made by condensing an organic polyisocyanate or a "quasi prepolymer" (i.e. made by reacting an excess of an organic polyisocyanate with an active hydrogen containing compound) in the presence of a catalyst which is 2,4,6-tris-(N- methylethanolamino)-s-triazine alone or together with an.isocyanate trimerization catalyst which is 1,3,5-tris-(N,N-dialkyl-aminoalkyl)-shexahydrotriazine, 2,4,6 - tris(dimethylaminomethyl) phenol, o- and/or p-dimethylaminomethyl phenol or an organotin compound, e.g. R11SnOR111 where R11 is alkyl, aryl or alkenyl and R111 is R11 or -SnR11. In the examples a mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-toluene diisocyanate, with optionally methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and/or 4,41-methylene dianiline, was foamed by condensing in the presence of the above triazine, with optionally 1,3,5 - tris(N,N. dimethyl - 3 - aminopropyl) - s - hexahydrotriazine, bis(tri - N - butyltin) oxide or bis- (triphenyltin)oxide, and tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate and a polysiloxane surfactant.
