Abstract:
1286922 Alternators with D.C. excitation COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE 3 March 1970 [6 March 1969] 10217/70 Heading H2A An apparatus for producing an electric discharge in a conductive liquid, e.g. salt or fresh water, forming a load, includes a 3Ph. alternate 1 having Y-and #-connected armature windings 18, 19 to which are respectively connected two rectifier bridges 16, 17 which incorporate controlled rectifiers and whose outputs are connected in parallel to a pair of electrodes 13, 14 insertable into the liquid, and for triggering the controlled rectifiers there is provided a triggering circuit controlled by a measuring circuit connected directly to one armature winding and arranged to measure its output voltage. The alternator has an exciter winding 5 connected via a controlled rectifier e.g. a thyristor 21 and a transformer-rectifier device 23 to at least one alternator winding 18, 19, which thyristor is rendered conductive by a signal generator 20 and non-conductive by a capacitor C 2 controlled by a thyristor 41. The measuring circuit comprises a comparator 31 to which are applied signals from a reference voltage source 30 and from a voltage divider 28 connected across the output of a rectifier bridge 27 fed by the armature winding 18, and is connected to an amplifier 32 which generates signals for triggering the thyristors in the two bridges. The output of the comparator 31 is also connected through a variable delay circuit 38 to both a pulse shaping amplifier 39 whose output triggers a thyristor 15 connected across the electrodes 13, 14, and another delay circuit 40 connected to the thyristors 41.
