1354313 Imidazolidine and oxazolidine derivatives KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd and SANKYO CO Ltd 28 May 1971 [28 May 1970] 18000/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] Imidazolidine and oxazolidine derivatives having the general formula wherein X is an oxygen atom or imino group; Y is a carbonyl group, an iminomethylene group or an aminomethylene group; R 1 and R 2 are alkyl, phenyl or aralkyl groups, or R 1 and R 2 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a 5-, 6- or 7-membered saturated alicyclic group or a group of the formula wherein Z is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a free radical (-O); R 4 and R 5 are (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl groups or one of them is a hydrogen atom, or R 4 and R 5 together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a 5-, 6- or 7- membered saturated alicyclic group or a group of the formula n is 1 or 2; and when n is 1, R 3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, or aralkyl group, and when n is 2, R 3 is an alkylene or arylene group or a group of the formula wherein R 6 is an oxygen atom, a methylene group or a group of the formula and R 7 is a hydrogen atom or alkyl group but excluding those compounds in which the symbols defined above have the following combination of meanings: X is an imino group, Y is a carbonyl group, R 1 and R 2 are each alkyl groups or together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a saturated 5- or 6-membered alicyclic group, n is 1 and R 3 is a hydrogen atom, are used as fading resistants for photographic dyes. Several methods of preparation are given.
