Abstract:
1341207 Hydrocracking SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 21 Dec 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 60593/70 Heading C5E Hydrocarbon oils are cracked at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of hydrogen and less than 1000 p.p.m. of water vapour by volume over a catalyst based on a hydrogel of a refractory oxide, including an iron-group metal and fluorine, which has been sulphided at a temperature of at least 399‹ C. until at least 1% by weight of sulphur has been deposited, and then cooled before use. Preferably the oxide is siliceous and may contain alumina, titania or magnesia. Preferably the metal is nickel. The catalyst may also contain chromium, molybdenum or tungsten. The used catalyst can be regenerated by burning in air diluted with nitrogen and resulphiding.
