Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5012504
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1464766 Cooling dynamoelectric machines ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 19 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 17271/74 Heading H2A In a motor-driven pump, the motor is cooled by heat transfer between a number of axially extending annular elements 4 arranged coaxially on a rotor member 1 of the motor and a co-operating set of non-contacting, interleaving annular elements 5 extending from a stationary member 3, heat flowing along the arrowed paths 6 between the members 1, 3 being removed from the latter by constraining the medium pumped by the pump to flow over the member 3. The stationary member 3 may form a part of either the motor casing or the pump casing (neither illustrated), and the motor may have a heat exchange arrangement such as described above at each end of the rotor. The spaces between the elements 4, 5 may be occupied by air or by a liquid. In the submersible pump shown, the elements 4 are 1-10 mm. thick and are spaced 0À1-3 mm. from the elements 5, the elements 4, 5 being of aluminium or copper and having blackened surfaces. The elements may also contain heat pipes wherein a liquid evaporates at one end of a pipe and condenses at the other.
