Japanese Patent JPS50132456
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1477235 Potentiometers NORTH AMERICAN PHILIPS CORP 14 March 1975 [18 March 1974] 10712/75 Heading HIS [Also in Division B3] In the assembly of a rotary potentiometer a thermoplastic rotor shaft 13, having a slot 14, is passed through an opening 21 in substrate 17 after which one end of the slot is spread by a key member 19 so as to prevent relative axial movement of the rotor and substrate. Before spreading occurs the slot may have a tapered section 114, Fig. 10a. The key member may be rectangular or circular in cross-section, and may have an elongated stem with a grooved conical end portion 140 in which case the stem is broken off after spreading has occurred, Fig. 12b. The wiper element is a helical spring 16 supported by a resilient member 15 in a recess 11 in the rotor. Various ways are described of connecting leads 18 to substrate 17 with reference to Fig. 9 (not shown). The end (41, Fig. 6, not shown) of one of leads 18 cooperates with a projection 12 on the rotor to act as a stop member. End portions (153, 155, Fig. 13a, not shown) of the resistance element not engaged by spring 16 may be scribed by a laser to adjust the resistance value.
