Abstract:
1,273,335. Coating. VIANOVA KUNSTHARZ A.G. 22 Jan., 1970 [3 Feb., 1969], No. 3253/70. Addition to 1,229,759. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions C3 and C7] A coating composition comprises (A) the carboxyl group containing product obtained by reacting a diene polymer and a modified or unmodified unsaturated fatty acid having more than 8 carbon atoms with an α, #-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid component and (B) a heat reactive product obtained by reacting formaldehyde with a phenol carboxylic acid in physical admixture or chemically combined. In Example 1 component (A) is prepared by interacting polybutadiene, maleic anhydride and dehydrated castor oil in the presence of copper naphthenate and component (B) is prepared by reacting 4, 4-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) pentanoic acid with formaldehyde in the presence of triethylamine. The coating composition also contains ammonia a neutralizer, water, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether and trimethylol propane as solvents and TiO 2 , lithopone, microtalc, carbon black and lead silicochromate as pigments. It is sprayed on to zinc phosphated steel panels and stoved.
