Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5124539
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1468485 Making saw &c strip; welding by fusion FAGERSTA AB 21 May 1975 [30 May 1974] 21839/75 Headings B3A and B3R [Also in Division C7] Hard-edged strip for saws is made by rolling strip backing metal down to a thickness of 10 mm or less and fusing a filler metal together with the backing metal to form an alloy run of greater hardness than that of the backing metal. The filler metal may be deposited in a groove in an edge of the backing by gas-metal-arc gastungsten-arc or plasma arc welding. Filler metal may be in the form of a wire or powder e.g. in a tube. Alternatively, a plurality of runs of the filler metal may be applied to a backing strip from one or both sides and the strip severed, after cold rolling to consolidate the weld, through the runs so that each provides two hard edges. Instead, cuts can be made in the backing adjacent the runs. A spring-steel backing has the following composition, percentages by weight:- C 0À45%, Cr 4À2%, Mo 0À85%, V 0À15%, balance Fe. A filler for combining with a backing to produce high-speed steel has the following composition:- Cr 3À5-5À0%, Mo 2À5-25%, W 2À5-50%, Co up to 30%, V 1À2-10%. High-speed steel obtained using the filler has the following composition:- C 0À6-1À2%, Cr 2À0-5À0%, Mo 1À0-10%, W 1À0- 20%, Co up to 12%, Va 0À5-4À0%, balance Fe.
