Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,268,403. Optical projection systems. EASTMAN KODAK CO. May 20, 1969 [May 20, 1968], No.25676/69. Heading G2A. In an optical projection system for microfilm viewers, the magnification of pictures projected from film-strip 12 on to screen 19 is varied by changing the long conjugate distance by means of mirrors 62, 64 mounted on a motor-driven carriage 54 slidable on rails 56, 58 parallel to the optical axis of projection lens 16, there being cam means 76 on carriage 54 which imparts a non-linear axial movement to lens 16 to maintain the projected image in focus. Skew mounted cam edge 76 is engaged by follower 72 to rotate the shaft 70 threaded in a fixed bearing within cylindrical cam member 82 which is thereby axially displaced. Lens carriage 20 is correspondingly shifted by the engagement of follower 116 in a helical cam slot in member 82. A separate slot is engaged for each of a set of interchangeable lenses 16. The lens is mounted on a carriage 26 movable transversely of carriage 20 by a rack and pinion control (42), Fig. 2 (not shown), and the lens assembly includes a Dove prism whereby rotation of the assembly by control 53, wheels 47, 49, and belt 48, rotates the projected image.
