1460556 Impact tools HYDROACOUSTICS Inc 17 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 15893/75 Heading B4C A hydraulic pressure tool comprises a housing 300, a bore 308 therein and a piston 310 in the bore, the piston having faces 326, 328 the face 326 being the driving force and of larger area, a sliding valve mechanism 334 surrounding the piston and alternately covering a supply port 336 and return port 338, an accumulator 354 in the supply line connected through a chamber 352 to supply port 336 to store energy for the downward stroke of the piston. In use the passageway 352 is always connected to the space 332 below the piston to provide a restoring force and is alternately connected to the space 330 above piston 320 to provide the driving force. Valve means 340 is moved by rings 342, 344 on the piston rod. Return fluid passes through accumulator 366 which helps even out the flow thereof. A flushing medium channel is provided axially of the piston and drill bit.
