1380241 Percussive tools SKANSKA CEMENTGJUTERIET AB 9 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970 21 April 1971] 57320/71 Heading B4C [Also in Division G3] A system for automatically aligning at least one feed beam 4 of a rock drilling machine to a desired bearing and desired angle to the vertical to guide the movement of a rock drill unit 5 on the beam comprises a movable support unit 2, a jib 3 on the support unit, a feed beam 4 pivotally mounted on the jib for movement in two vertical planes by means of hydraulic mechanisms 7, 8 controlling tilt and turn respectively, the angles of tilt and turn γb , γv being measured by respective pendulum transducers 21, 20 providing signals to comparators 19, 18 respectively for comparison with desired values derived in operating circuits 16, 15 by combination of a signal from selector 17 and representing slope of the feed beam relative to the vertical with respective signals K 1 cos (α 0 + #) and K 1 sin (α 0 + #) obtained from resolver 11 where α 0 is the jib angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the support unit and # is the desired angular bearing of the feed beam relative to the longitudinal axis of the unit, the bearing angle being determined by means of a course indicator 9 including a compass and telescopic sight and a course follower connected to a resolver 10 whereby the bearing angle relative to magnetic north is determined, the output signals from the comparators acting on the hydraulic mechanisms to provide the desired alignment.
