Japanese Patent JPS5520925
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
1503624 Applying lids to packaging containers ZIRISTOR AB 1 March 1976 [6 March 1975] 08075/76 Heading B8C A device comprises means for holding a lid 6 and inflatable means 7 for pressing the lid around the top of a container while adhesive sets. The carrier element 1, as a part of a packaging machine, is moved from the position, Fig. 1, laterally from a conveyer track, not shown, to take up a lid 5, made, e.g. of plastics and/or paper, in a snap-in groove 4 in a peripheral edge 2 of the element and is then retracted to the position, Fig. 1, above an opentopped container 9, made, e.g. of layer of paper and plastics and previously filled, e.g. with milk, and provided with adhesive such as hot-melt around its upper outer edge. The element 1 is then lowered so that the upper edge of the container 9 presses the lid upwards against a central raised portion 8 in the recess 3, Fig. 2, and flanges 6 of the lid are folded in against the container side walls, the raised portion 8 pressing the central portion of the lid slightly downwards to form a small, internal peripheral groove in which the upper edge of the container is located. The pressure device 7, in the form of a fluid-filled tube of flexible material, is then inflated to press the flange 6 evenly against the container wall as it adapts itself to the shape thereof.
