1380297 1,4,5-Benzotriazocine derivatives CHUGAI SEIYAKU KK 6 April 1972 [8 April 1971 (4) 23 March 1972 (3)] 16003/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the Formula (I):- wherein X is H, halogen, or alkyl; R1 is H or Alkyl; R11 is H, -COCH 2 Y or -COCH 2 A; Y is halogen; A is a nitrogen atom to which any 2 or 3 of R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are attached and which, when 3 such groups are attached, carries an anion; R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are the same or different and each represents H, alkyl, alkenyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl or aralkyl, or a substituted amino group, or two or more of them being taken together represent a polymethylene group which may have one or more hetero atoms therebetween. Compounds (I) in which R11 is -COCH 2 Y may be obtained by cyclizing a benzophenone of the Formula (VIII): which is obtainable by reacting a benzophenone hydrazone of Formula (VI): with a halogenoacetyl halide of Formula (VII): Compounds (I) in which R11 is H may be obtained by reacting a compound (I) in which R11 is -COCH 2 Y, with a deacylating agent. Compounds (I) in which R11 is -COCH 2 A, may be obtained by reacting a compound (I) in which R11 is -COCH 2 Y with an amine of the general formula The compounds (I) are useful as medicines by virtue of their action upon the central nervous system.
