Abstract:
1324078 Mirror mounts BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 20 Nov 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 57167/69 Heading A4X [Also in Divisions B8 and G2] A mirror is manufactured by placing a metallised film of plastics material 5 against a support which comprises a rectangular board 2 of rigid polyurethane foam and an edging of extruded metal strip 4, holding the edges of the film in a groove 12 in the strip and applying heat to the surface of the film such that the film is evenly tensioned over said surface. The supported film may be placed on a flat thermostatically controlled heated metal plate Fig. 3 (not shown), having on its upper surface a layer of PTFE impregnated glass cloth which protects the surface of the film from being marked by the metal. The PTFE glass cloth may be in the form of a conveyor belt to which the supported film is delivered Fig. 4 (not shown).
