Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS56501437
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
A column (1) is used as an installation formed by a cascade mounting of columns, with a plurality of stages, comprising circulation chambers without stirrers for homogeneous liquid or gas systems which are susceptible to be modified by chemical reactions and/or physical processes by mixing in the circulation chambers. The column (1) comprises plates (3) succeeding each other at a distance, alternately inclined opposite with respect to each other and provided with a passageway (9, 6) at each of the lower and upper ends thereof. The fluid is introduced into the column (1) by means of a pump. The fluid stream is directed against the end area upstream of the inclined plates and deflected by said plates so as to form a jet ((Alpha)T) which gene rates a swirl of the homogenous medium in the circulation chamber and the suction of a fluid stream ((Alpha)S) outside the next chamber. This stream ((Alpha)S) sucked through a passage which is made free by a plate (3) flows again through the other passage (9) in the chamber outside which it has been sucked, so as to provide a loop shaped flow in the same way as the loop flow in a reactor. The swirl motion in the circulation chambers is obtained without a moving mechanical part.
