Abstract:
1392558 Pyridoxine derivatives BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 1 Sept 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 40635/72 Heading C2V Pyridoxine derivatives of formula where -CH 2 A and -CH 2 B, which are the same or different, are radicals convertible by hydrolysis to -CH 2 OH, or A and B together form a divalent hydrolysable radical, are obtained by reacting 4-methyloxazole with a 1,4-disubstituted but-2-en-2-yl sulphone of formula where R is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl group. In examples the products prepared are 2-methyl-4,5-epoxydimethylpyridin - 3 - ol, 2 - methyl - 4,5 - bismethoxymethylpyridin - 3 - ol, 2 - methyl- 4,5 - (methylenebis - dioxymethyl) - pyridin - 3- ol and 2-methyl-4,5-bis-acetoxymethylpyridin- 3-ol; some of the products are hydrolysed to pyridoxin.
