PURPOSE: To easily perform fastening of a seat belt and dissipate the pressure applied when the belt is fastened by detecting a slack of the seat belt when fastened by means of a control means and by controlling a winding-up drive means on the basis of the detection signal.
CONSTITUTION: A retractor body 1 is fixed to a car body at a hole 1a and a seat belt 2 is fit to a belt winding-up shaft 7 with a rod inserted inside a loop. A shaft 5a of a motor 5 for winding up the belt is engaged to said shaft 7 and the body of the motor 5 is fixed to the retractor body 1. A pendulum 9 is held via a bracket 6 by the retractor body 1, whereby the pendulum 9 is oscillated at a collision of a car to raise a pawl 10 in order to engage a projection 10a with a gear 11 for locking. Only when signals indicating that the diameter of the wound belt is "small", a buckle is "locked" and the slack is "present" are inputted into a computer 12 from respective sensors 14W16, the computer controls the revolution of the motor 5 to achieve the expected purpose.
