PURPOSE: To record and reproduce information to and from a large-sized cassette, by providing a loading mechanism for the large-sized cassette to a information recording or reproducing device for a small-sized cassette.
CONSTITUTION: The figure shows that a holder 12 is ejected, a front surface part 6 is detached, and an adapter 2 is to be loaded in a portable VTR1. In this state, the projecting part 4 of the adapter 2 is inserted into the holder 12 to allow a large-sized cassette 3 to be loaded in the portable VTR as well as a small-sized cassette. When the small-sized cassette is loaded, that the small- sized cassette is loaded and the erasure and side surface inhibition signal of the small-sized cassette are transmitted from the signal pin 7 of the front surface part 6 to the control circuit of the portable VTR through a connector receptacle part 8. Further, when the adapter is attached, a switch SW1 is closed and an SW2 is opened to apply a larger voltage than the voltage applied when the front plate 6 is equipped to a reel motor RM.
