PURPOSE: To obtain a polyethylene foam having excellent flame retardance and mechanical characteristics, by using a composition obtained by compounding a polyethylene resin, aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, chlorinated polyethylene and a lubricant at specific ratios, as a main raw material.
CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of 30W60wt% polyethylene resin, 40W 15wt% aluminum hydroxide, 40W15wt% magnesium hyroxide, 1W10wt% chlorinated polyethylene, and 1W6wt% lubricant (e.g. metallic salt of lauric acid, etc.), wherein the weight ratio of aluminum hydroxide to magnesium hydroxide is 0.5W1.7, is mixed with a foaming agent (e.g. azodicarbonamide) and a crosslinking agent (e.g. dicumyl peroxide), and foamed by heating to obtain the objective flame-retardant polyethylene resin foam.
USE: Flooring material and wall material.
