PURPOSE: To prevent the failure of voltage resistance by providing a mesh on the surface of a getter that is filled up in a container.

CONSTITUTION: A container 1 is filled with a getter 2. A mesh 3 is provided on the surface of the container and the size of the mesh 3 is made smaller than a shadow mask slot. The mesh 3 has a meshy structure with a slant only on one side and is created by the etching method. 4, A, B, and C show a funnel, the electrode side, the panel side, and the direction of getter spray, respectively. A mask is prevented from being clogged by using the getter 2 provided with the mesh 3 even when dirt appears. Besides, since the getter spray direction (C) is restricted only to the direction of the panel side (B), and the getter is prevented from adhering to the electrode of an electron gun due to the getter back flash. This is favorable from a viewpoint of voltage resistance.
