1428812 Vehicle trim strips CUSTOM TRIM PRODUCTS Inc 13 Feb 1973 [20 March 1972] 41875/75 Divided out of 1428811 Heading B7B [Also in Division B5] The description is substantially identical to that of Specification 1,428,811 but the claims are directed to the process of extruding a geometrically solid section which may comprise the vehicle trim strip of Specification 1,428,811 but may also have other applications. The extruded section of Fig. 8 comprises unfoamed and foamed portions 37, 101 which may respectively comprise resilient and impact resistant soft polyvinylchloride, and cushioning foamed polyvinylchloride/rubber mixture. The foamed portion 101 may be absent at spaced intervals along the section, at which the unfoamed portion 37 is folded over and sealed to provide the closed ends of a vehicle bumper, or a chain rail or seat cushion, and the portion 37 may be given a finish simulating walnut wood, or leather. Alternatively, the unfoamed portion 37 may extend only horizontally along the Fig. 8 section, e.g. for abutment with an adjacent section, to form the wear surface of a floor or wall covering. Alternatively, the locations of the unfoamed and foamed portions may be reversed, with the foamed portion surrounding part, or all, of the unfoamed portion, or the unfoamed portion may comprise both the core and part of the exterior.
