PURPOSE: To reduce the moire phenomenon, by subtracting an output of an image pickup element relating to an optical image transmitted through a white color separation filter with an output of the image pickup element relating to the optical image transmitted through color separation filters except white color.
CONSTITUTION: A blue output 6 and a red output 7 are obtained from a white output 1, a yellow output 2, and a cyan output 3 through the pickup element having the color separation filters by using subtraction circuits 4, 5. Since the outputs 6, 7 may sometimes take a value lower than the black level, the part, i.e., a virtual signal is eliminated at slice circuits 8, 9. Thus, the virtual signal only is eliminated without losing the essential signals entirely and deteriorating the resolution.
