Abstract:
PURPOSE:To freely adjust the effective inner pressure in the hydraulic shock absorber and consequently capacitate the best setting in response to road conditions by a structure wherein a detachable ring joint is provided within the seat pipe of the hydraulic shock absorber in order to raise the oil pressure by means of the fluid resistance caused by the ring joint. CONSTITUTION:When an inner tube 3 advances into an outer tube 2 in compression stroke, the working oil in the outer chamber S2 of the seat pipe is raised its pressure and flowed from the outer chamber S2 through a valve mechanism 26 into the inner chamber S1 of the seat pipe and then past through the ring joint 18 and flowed through an oil passage hole 13 into an upper chamber S3, resulting in raising the oil level in the chamber S3 and consequently reducing the volume of a gas chamber S4 and increasing the pressure in the chamber S4. The impact applied from outside is hereby absorbed and relaxed by means of the damping force caused by the flow resistance produced for the working oil by passing through the valve 26 and the like. In addition, because the fluid resistance is developed in the working oil passing through the ring joint 18 by being throttled therewith, the oil pressure at the upstream side (at the lower part) of the joint 18 is raised higher than the oil pressure at the downstream side of the joint 18 by the value corresponding to the fluid resistance, resulting in raising the effective inner pressure in the shock absorber 1.
