Abstract:
PURPOSE:To lengthen the life span of a coupling device, in which couplings of respective end portions of a driving shaft and a driven shaft are connected to each other through elastic means and an air clutch, by providing a hollow outer race brought into slidable contact with the air clutch of the elastic means so as to diffuse generated heat. CONSTITUTION:A coupling device for connecting between a driving shaft E coupled to a Diesel engine and a driven shaft P coupled to auxiliary machinery comprises the first and second couplings 1, 2 connected to each shaft E, P, and buffer elastic means 3 and air clutch means 4 which are connected to each coupling 1, 2. The outer race 8 of the elastic means 3 comprises a fitting plate 8a for an elastic ring 7 and a plate 8b brought into contact with the inside clutch shoe 9 of the clutch means 4, a heat-insulating space 8c being formed between both the plates 8a and 8b. The heat-insulating space 8c communicates with the air through a vent 8d, so that heat generated when the shoe 9 is brought into close contact with the plate 8b is diffused in the atmosphere.
