PURPOSE: To remove the slag floating on the molten metal in metal molds automatically by performing a series of operations from scooping up of slag, scraping out of slag, discharging of slag into a slag receiving box up to coating of release materials continuously.
CONSTITUTION: By the operation of a two step cylinder device 34, the leading end of a scraper 36 is brought diagonally downward, and is moved forward in such a way as to push and gather the slag 49 floating on the molten metal 48 in metal molds, thereby gathering the slag from the positionIto the position II. When a cylinder 33 is thrusted upward in the position II, the scraper 36 arrives at the position III, where it scoops up the slag from the inside of the molten metal. Following to this, the scraper 36 advances again until it arrives at the position IV. A carriage 10 advances and in the position IV, a cylinder 39 extends or contracts to scrape the slag 49 on the scraper 36 off onto a slag receiving dumper 51 with a slag scraper plate 43. At the same time, release materials are coated from a spary nozzle 50. The scraper is returned to the home position by the device 34, and the carriage 10 retreats quickly and is kept standing by to be ready for starting operation when synchronized again.
