PURPOSE: To project the improvement of operability, by carrying a web at a painting part with friction force between a rubber-lined impression cylinder and the web.

CONSTITUTION: An electric motor 6 is coupled through a clutch 7 to an impression cylinder 1 and through a variable speed gear 8 to a painting roll 2. The clutch 7 is provided to inhibit the solidification of a paint 5 when the web 3 stops running. At the stop of the web 3, the clutch 7 is put off, the impression cylinder 1 is lifted up and the painting roll 2 is rotated at a low speed, so that a web 3 is prevented from winding round the impression cylinder 1 by rotating the painting roll 2 only. The variable speed gear 8 is provided to control a painting amount by changing the relationship between the running speed of the web 3 and the circumferential speed of the painting roll 2.
