Title:
ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF CELLULOSE-CONTAINING WASTE MATTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5864200
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently convert cellulose into a volatile fatty acid and to perform its liquefying fermentation, adjusting by cellulose-contg. waste matter to pH 6.5W8.0, holding the difference of oxidation-reduction potential under the supply of oxygen at -50W-300mV, and bringing the waste matter into contact with facultative anaerobes.

CONSTITUTION: Cellulose-contg. waste matter 15 and water 16 are added to a slurry-adjusting cell 21 to form slurry. Said slurry is charged through a transferring pipe 24 in a liquefying cell 1, and held at a fixed temperature for a few days while being agitated in contact with liquefying bacteria to convert organic substances such as cellulose into a volatile fatty acid. Oxygen is hence blown through an oxygen-supply pipe 7 into the liquefying-fermenting slurry to hold the difference of its oxidation-reduction potential at -50W-300mV by a controlling means 6 for the difference of the oxidation-reduction potential connected to an electrode 5 for measuring the difference of the oxidation-reduction potential immersed in the liquefying-fermenting slurry. On the other hand, pH of the liquefying-fermenting slurry is adjusted to 6.5W8.0.
