PURPOSE: To enhance the performance of a pump by furnishing a deflection wall around a pump runner and thereby smoothing the outflow of the water from the outlet of pump runner.
CONSTITUTION: The water discharged to a volute chamber 6 is changed with its direction while situated in this chamber 6, where part of this water will flow out toward the neighborhood of the inlet of volute chamber 6 along the internal walls of the chamber 6 with a flux of flow l. This flux of flow l is changed with its direction so as to flow along the surface of a deflection wall 11 in succession from the internal wall of the volute chamber 6 and, in the form of a flux of flow m, sent off toward the discharge outlet 5 of the pump runner 1. Accordingly the flux of flow L will never intersect with the flux of flow l on the way of return along the internal wall of the volute chamber 6 directly face to face, so that the pumping efficiency is enhanced.
