PURPOSE: To carry out the automatic remote monitoring of a resin separation state, by a method wherein the color difference of a resin is electrically discriminated by a color difference detecting apparatus and the detected value is compared with a preliminarily fabricated color difference graph.
CONSTITUTION: A monitoring window is provided to the side surface of a resin regenerating tower and a color difference detecting apparatus electrically discriminating the color difference of a resin is provided so as to be moved along said window in a vertical direction. In this state, the position of said apparatus in the height direction of the tower and the color of the resin at this position are detected and the detected values are compared to a preliminarily fabricated color difference graph to detect the uncompletion or the completion of backwashing separation operation and the separation position of the resin in the tower. As described above, a backwashing separation process is perfectly automated.
