Abstract:
PURPOSE:To impart lipophilic property to an inorganic pigment, and to improve the dispersibility of the pigment in an oil, by treating an aqueous dispersion of the inorganic pigment with a specific amount of a titanate-type coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:For example, an inorganic pigment composed of the oxides of zinc, iron, nickel, titanium, etc. is mixed with water to obtain a slurry. The slurry is incorporated with 0.02-5wt%, based on the pigment, of a titanate-type coupling agent[e.g. isopropyl triisostearoyl titanate, tetraisopropyl bis(dioctylphosphite) titanate, etc.], stirred for 30-60min, separated, washed with water, and dried to obtain the treated pigment.
