PURPOSE: To contrive to stabilize accuracy of the moving position of a tape and to reduce dead space, by a method wherein the ratio between the winding diameter D and the width W of a tape is specified, and a sheet form ink tape satisfying a printing width for at least displaying the functions and performance of a printer is contained.
CONSTITUTION: A wide sheet form ink tape 22 wound around two cylindrical parts is contained in a cassette 21 in the condition of being divided into the supplying side 26 and the take-up side 27. An exposed part of the ink tape 22 is pressed against a paper 29 by an ink tape press spring 23, and the width of an opening part 25 is set to be not less than the printing width for at least not damaging the functions and performance of the printer. The maximum winding diameter D of the tape 22 is set to be small, while the width W of the tape 22 is set to be large so as to satisfy the condition of W/D≥1. The tape cassette 21 is used in a fixed condition, and the tape 22 is taken up only between lines, namely, it is taken up (for printing in the next line) after printing in a line is completed. Accordingly, it is unnecessitated to take up the ink tape in correspondence with the feed of the printer for printing in a line, the tape is prevented from sagging or being shifted in position, and positional accuracy can be obtained.
