PURPOSE:To make it possible to successively feed sheets, by providing a plurality of sheet storage sections, means for detecting the presence of no sheet in one of the sheet storage sections and means for feeding sheet from the other one of the sheet storage section as necessary when the presence of no sheet in the above-mentioned one of the storage sections are detected during feeding of sheets. CONSTITUTION:A copying machine feeds copying mediums which are taken out one by one from a cassette 21, 22 by means of a paper feed roller 24, are fed to a photosensitive drum 30 through first and second rollers 25, 28 and a timing roller 29 and are made into close-contact with the drum 30 which transfers an image thereon by means of a transfer electric charger 27 to each copying medium under a positive high voltage current fed from a high voltage power source. In this arrangement, each of the cassettes 21, 22 is provided with a photoelectric element 23a, 23b for detecting the presence of papers in the associated cassette. Accordingly, when the presence of no paper is detected in one of the cassette 21, 22 from which the paper feed has been carried out, the paper feed is switched to be carried out from the other one of the cassettes 21, 23 as necessary.
