Abstract:
The valve controls the flow of a high-pressure fluid, having a plug adjustable axially in a bore with a seat between the ends. A chamber is formed in the bore either side of the seat, one connected to the high-pressure source and the other to a drain. The plug has a cone face working with the seat. On opposite sides of this face (23) on the plug (11) are a pair of surfaces, subjected to the pressures in the chambers (16, 15) so as to exert forces on the plug. The surface exposed to the pressure in one chamber (15) is of the same area as the face of the plug head subjected to the pressure in this chamber. That exposed to the pressure in the other chamber (16) is greater than that on the plug head exposed to this chamber pressure, so that the flow rate of the fuid out of the latter chamber is finally throttled.
