Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6348248
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE:In subjecting a methyl group directly linked to an unsaturated bond and a nitrogen monoxide gas to catalytic oxidation to give a corresponding nitrile to obtain the titled compound under specific temperature condition advantageously, by using an alumina catalyst supporting alumina or alkali metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:A gaseous mixture of an organic compound containing CH3 directly linked to an aromatic ring, hetero aromatic ring, or carbon carbon double bond, such as compounds shown by the formula I -formula VI (R<1> is 1- 4C alkyl, alkoxy, or halogen; X is halogen; m and l are 0, or 1; n is 0-3 integer; R<2> is H, or CH3) and NO is subjected to contact reaction at 350-600 deg.C on a catalyst (A) an alumina (ordinary gamma-alumina) catalyst, or (B) the catalyst supporting <=20wt%, especially <=10wt% alkali metal oxide, so that CH3 is converted into CN, to give a nitrile useful as a chemical base raw material in high conversion ratio and in high selectivity. The calcination temperature of the catalyst B is 400-1,000 deg.C.
