PURPOSE:To continuously produce a composite molded body excellent in strength by a method wherein the surface of a thermoplastic molded body is coated with both reinforcing fibers impregnated with a thermoplastic resin and unimpregnated fibers, and the thus coated surface is further coated with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:The reinforcing fibers applied with a uniform tension through a bundling plate are coated on the surface of the thermoplastic molded body which is continuously extruded from an extruder and has a diameter of not more than 600mm., and the body is passed through a resin impregnation tank containing a thermoplastic resin to impregnate the fibers with the resin. The body thus treated is then passed through a preform converging ring to squeeze the resin, the body is shaped by a die and the resin impregnating ratio is adjusted to 20-45wt%. Then, the reinforcing fibers not being impregnated with a resin is wound around the surface of the body thus treated, thereby a part of the unimpregnated fibers is impregnated with the thermoplastic resin and the resin is cured. Thereafter, a molten thermoplastic resin is extruded from an extruder onto the thus treated body so that the molten resin is infiltrated into the unimpregnated parts of the reinforcing resins.
