Abstract:
PURPOSE:To constitute an automatic device covering the entire process from an input for manuscript readout and an output for printing plate preparation by reading characters from a manuscript on a chinese character OCR device and processing its data on a computerized phototypesetter. CONSTITUTION:Chinese character information of a manuscript 1 which was read out by a structural scanning part 5 of a printed Chinese character OCR device 9 is collated with a dictionary pattern on a core memory 7 by means of a preprocessing/recognition part 6. Then it is transferred to a control device 8 and is revised by an operator through a CRT display and a key board 3, if necessary. After this process, a tape 10 in character codes from the control device 8 and an assigned information tape 11 from a manuscript feed system are compiled by means of a compiler 2. Then this data is sent to CPU from a photomemory together with character form data and is memorized sequentially by a page memory 16 as a sentence worth one page. This memorized data is galley-printed on an ordinary type paper by means of a printer. Following this step, the tapes 10, 11 are revised and proofread, and later is forwarded to a printing factory in the form of a block copy.
