PURPOSE:To grasp a layout original accurately and to facilitate corrections of layout by displaying layout information on a graph on a display and making a plate on the basis of its position code. CONSTITUTION:When the menue part 62 of a coordinate reader 60 is indicated with a light pen 63 according to pieces of informtion on the print size and basic layout of a planning document 10, the pieces of information are written in a master file 80 and basic information on a frame line, etc., is displayed on a graphic display 71. Then, a coordinate position on the device 60 is specified and codes of title characters and their size are specified by referring to a title character list 20 through the menue 62 to write pieces information on them in the file 80 together with the coordinate position code. Simultaneously, they are displayed on the display 71. The outline of a photographic plate, price numerals, etc., ae the same and a layout original is grasped accurately through the graphic display. Then, plates for proof reading and printing are made easily and securely and the layout is corrected easily by correcting the contents of the file 80.
