Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a 1, 7, 8-trifluoro-2-naphthol which is an efficient production intermediate of a trifluoronaphthalene-based liquid crystalline material and its derivative, and an efficient method for producing the trifluoronaphthalene-based liquid crystalline material.
SOLUTION: The naphthol derivative expressed by formula (I) is provided. The method for producing the trifluoronaphthalene compounds expressed by formulae (IV), (VI) and (VIII) by using the same is also provided. By the production method, it becomes possible to produce the liquid crystal compound having a trifluoronaphthalene skeleton which is difficult to be produced conventionally.
