Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The 1-cinnamoyl-5-fluorouracil derivative of formula I (R1, R2 and R3 are H, hydroxy or lower alkoxy).
EXAMPLE: 1-(3,4-Dimethoxycinnamoyl)-5-fluorouracil.
USE: The compound has antitumor activity and is useful as a drug. It exhibits remarkable life-prolonging effect to cancerous warm-blooded animals (e.g. mouse, rat, man, etc.).
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a 3,4,5-substituted cinnamic acid or its halogenide of formula II (R4 is hydroxy or halogen) wity nearly equimolar amount of 5-fluorouracil in the presence of a solvent and optionally a condensation agent at 0W5°C.
