Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel compound usable as a raw material for a cis-olefin compound useful as a substance having physiological activity such as various insect pheromones or its synthetic intermediate.

CONSTITUTION: A 1-halo-cis-3-tetradecene of the formula CH3(CH2)9CH=CH (CH2)2Xa (Xa is halogen). For example, 1-chloro-cis-3-tetradecene can be produced by adding dichloromethane and triethylamine to cis-3-tetradecen-1-ol, cooling the mixture down to 0°C and reacting with thionyl chloride. A cis-olefin compound can be produced at a reasonable cost by converting the 1-halo-cis-3- tetradecene to an organometallic compound and reacting with a compound of the formula RY (R is alkyl; Y is Br, I, tosyloxy or mesyloxy).
