Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a novel compound useful as a main raw material or additive for polyesters, nylons, fibers, lubricants, etc.
CONSTITUTION: 1-Methyl-1,6-hexanedicarboxylic acid which is a branched long chain α,β-dicarboxylic acid is produced e.g. by subjecting butadiene to a hydrative dimerization reaction, isomerizing the produced 2,7-octadiene-1-ol, hydroformylating the produced 7-octene-1-al, separating 2-methyl-1,8-octanedial from the mixture of the 2-methyl-1,8-octanedial with 1,9-octanedial, and subsequently oxidizing the 2-methyl-1,8-octanedial with oxygen.
